Booking Appointments:

Your appointment will be booked with a 2 hr window  Which means, if your appointment is for 10 am, your advisor will be there anytime between 9 am and 11 am. This way you do not need to be home “all day” waiting for your advisor to show up.  (Be sure to tell our scheduling expert if you have any specific time requirements.)

What happens after you Book  your Audit:

The Day before your Audit:

You will receive a call the day before your audit to confirm your appointment. At this time we will go over some last minute details to help you better prepare for your energy audit.

The Day of your audit:

 Your Hirus Energy Auditor will show up on time and introduce them self.

 Most audits start with an exterior inspection including measurements and photos of the exterior of your home.

 The auditor will then enter your home and start in the basement (lowest level) and work their way to your attic. (If accessible, the auditor will provide their own ladder to inspect the type and levels of attic insulation.) Time will be spent noting any mechanical energy using equipment and determining insulation levels. This process will be fully documented including several photos. (photos are required for the quality assurance process)

 Following the visual inspection the auditor will install a blower door  in one of your exterior doors and perform an air-tightness test of your home.

 After the air leakage test and with the fan still running, the auditor will then take you around your home and show you some key areas of air leakage.

It is highly recommended that you take the time and stay with your auditor as they perform their audit. Your auditor is a trained professional advisor, and has the expertise to offer several energy saving tips throughout the inspection process.

Once completed to your satisfaction, the auditor will disassemble the fan, go over some paperwork and answer any other questions you may have related to energy use.

The whole process will take 1-2 hrs to complete. You will have been provided with information and knowledge required to start saving energy in your home.

After the Auditor has left:

Your Hirus Auditor will input the data collected during the inspection into their software. The auditor will then upload all the documents to our secure server.

Hirus Inspections services quality assurance team will then check the auditors work and perform a full quality assurance check on the documentation. Then and only upon approval you will receive a personalized Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report (within 48 hrs by email), complete with recommendations specific to your home.

Hirus Services will always be available to you for any questions arising from your audit. This service is free and included for as long as you own your home.
